The word Immanuel means God with us.  Mathew1:23, says, “the virgin will be with a child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ which means, “God with us.”  After his resurrection Jesus appeared to his disciple and he told them that all authority in Heaven and on earth has been given to me therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, of the son and of the Holly Spirit, teaching them to obey every thing I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. All God’s Children should always enjoy the blessings of Immanuel.  The Lord Jesus called us because he wanted us and that he wanted to be with us.  Mark 3:13-15, says, “Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted and they came to him.  He appointed twelve –designating them apostles –that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.

There are many people who enjoyed the blessings of Immanuel in the Old Testament.  Among them are as follows:

468x60 animated Immanuel

Enoch who enjoyed Immanuel

The Bible puts it clearly that Enoch walked with God and he was no more.   Enoch embraced the covenant of the woman’s offspring in Genesis3:15.  Even to day, if we can hold to the covenant that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living God and deeply meditate upon it we can enjoy Immanuel, walking with the Lord as Enoch did.

Noah enjoyed Immanuel

Immanuel In an age full of wickedness, Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.  He held to the covenant of the Ark.  That Ark was a fore shadow of the coming Messiah.  Today, the Lord expects us to hold to Christ and constantly receive and enjoy the favor of the Lord, experiencing his presence in our lives all the time.

Joseph enjoyed Immanuel

Joseph faced persecutions of various kinds.   His brothers hated him; he was sold as a slave and was also imprisoned.    In all hardships that Joseph went through, he enjoyed the truth that the Lord was with him.   As he enjoyed Immanuel, Joseph’s view towards certain situations was different.  He did not hold any grudge against any of those who were persecuting him.

Moses enjoyed Immanuel

When God was sending Moses to Egypt, God promised that he was going to be with him.  Moses went to Egypt with this assurance.   For this reason, the Lord performed ten miracles through the hand of Moses.

Elijah enjoyed Immanuel

As Elijah enjoyed Immanuel, he confessed before King Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives whom I serve, there will neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word,” (1 kings17:1).  Elijah was sure that the Lord who was with him will always confirm his word.

Samuel enjoyed Immanuel

The Bible says that in his young age, Samuel was always next to the Ark of the Covenant.

Samuel lived in an age were God’s word was rare in the Land.  In his childhood years, Samuel was sleeping next to the Ark of the Covenant that signified the Lord’s presence.  In his adult years, none of his words fell to the ground all his words were fulfilled and all his prayers were answered.

David enjoyed Immanuel

David had the mystery that the Lord is with him.  He confessed many times that he shall fear no evil for the Lord is with him.   Enjoying Immanuel, David again confessed that goodness and love shall follow him all the days of his life and he shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The best way for every believer to enjoy Immanuel is prayer.   Prayer has a power of making the impossible possible.   It changes the world through the power of creation.  Prayer is the channel for grace and the channel for power.  Martin Luther devoted himself wholehearted to enjoy Immanuel, saying, “If I do not spend two hours in the early morning to pray, that day’s victory will go to the Devil.  Because I have so many things to accomplish, if I do not spend three hours in prayer each day, I can not achieve this work.”

As we enjoy Immanuel through prayer, we should always remember that the entire world is in God’s hands, and prayer is the force that moves God’s hands.   When we pray, we will move God’s hands to action.   To continually enjoy Immanuel, simply connect everything to prayer.
